A teaser, if you will…

ben scotts undies

While we’re all waiting, with bated breath, for Queen Bee’s report from the Ugly/Sexy night last week, this mysterious teaser came through.

It is Ben Scott (the lovechild)’s crotch shot.

Ai caramba!

Just what went on at Ugly/Sexy?

Was the allure of the Scott DNA, combined with Reg Grundies by Armani, just too powerful for the sexy Queen Bee to resist?

Shazbut Nanu Nanu!

No need to explain this one, I hope!

Most of the LED messages which have come through for the Fremantle Welcome Sign have been from fans, far flung around the world, directly addressing Bon Scott himself.

This message, however, seems to be a reply to the fans from Bon.

Somehow, where-ever he is (perhaps in some alternative rock-n-roll dimension) Bon managed to hack the system and send thru this mysterious intergalactic greeting…

(actually, I must extend thanks to Brian Bitter for this one…)

Welcome Weary Travellers

welcome weary travellers

Today’s LED welcome sign message comes from none other than Ben Scott, the lovechild who has stamped his presence all over this blog. This sign makes good use of the fact that the big red LED sign is a “welcome sign” for cars which stream over the bridge from the north, into the heart of Fremantle. It is also a reference to the many passionate fans who make their pilgrimage to Fremantle to visit Bon Scott at his graveside… Thanks Ben!

Crikey! Rolling Stone!

The July 2008, Aussie issue of Rolling Stone Magazine contains a feature on the Bon Scott Project, and some quotes from my “At the Cemetery” publication.

Which reminds me, I haven’t featured “At the Cemetery” on the blog yet. Will do so tomorrow… (it’s a little book with a hand-printed cover available at the exhibition, and maybe soon, online!)

A message from Dubbo

Lucas,

My father is a die hard AC/DC fan and even moreso a Bon Scott fan. Nothing would make him happier than getting a message up on your sign, even though he can’t be there to attend the concert. If I was able to get you the message, is there any chance you could photograph the sign for me as it displays?

Kind regards,
Mitch

Mitch, your wish is my command! I love the idea of a message coming all the way from Dubbo

Keep sending the messages folks, details about how to do it are here.

Hot Enough for Hate Mail

queen bee and friends

Queen Bee, our current “Fan of the week” recently sent me a bunch of images of herself and her friends cavorting at the graveside of the Bonny Scott. (She’s the one kneeling up at the back doing that rock-n-roll horn symbol thingummy with her right hand…)

She also wrote this passionate comment in response to the “ugly/sexy” debate.

Shortly afterwards, this quite negative, and rather confusing comment came through from someone called “Peter”:

New AC/DC Album On Its Way

Enrique, my Bon Scott source from southern Spain, just tipped me off about the potential release date of the new acca dacca album. See below for details hot off the press:

According to Billboard.com, The first AC/DC album in eight years is due to drop this August with production from Brendan O’Brien. The album will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart in the US with Australian retailers tp be confirmed…
AC/DC’s next studio album will be exclusively sold at Wal-Mart stores in the United States, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The as-yet-untitled Columbia album, which, as previously reported, was produced by Brendan O’Brien, is expected in the fall.

The new AC/DC album is the legendary hard rock act’s first since 2000’s “Stiff Upper Lip,” which has shifted more than 930,000 copies. A tour is expected to follow its release.

AC/DC is one of the only major acts yet to make its music available via Apple’s iTunes Music Store. In August 2007, Verizon Wireless snagged the exclusive rights to sell the band’s entire back catalog through March 2008, becoming the first and only digital music store to offer AC/DC’s content. However, the deal was limited to full-album downloads, one of the reason’s AC/DC’s music has not appeared in digital form to date.

Check out Billboard.com for full details.

(Bon+Sexy) = Queen Bee

This whole Ugly / Sexy question sure has opened the door to some passionate commentary from the female fans (even the newish ones!).

But I wonder what men (besides his own charming lovechild son of course) make of Bon’s sexiness? For instance, I’ve been wondering, what do gay boys make of his devilish charm, down-home features, suggestive movements, high tight jeans, engaging eye-twinkles? Hot or Not?

Anyway, while we ponder that one, and wait for some more opinions to trickle through, one of the great discoveries this week has been “Queen Bee“. She sent me this charming email (reproduced below), accompanied by the photo above, and several other rather racy shots of herself and her musician pals at the cemetery. Thanks Queen, you’re definitely Fan-of-The-Week!

Ok, here’s her email…

Dear Lucas

I have been passionately watching the goings on at the art gallery and your own hand in this dynamic new Bon Scott Project and I wanted to know how I could participate???

I think I would be invaluable to this Project not only as a MAJOR fan but as the total awesome networker I’ve blossomed into.

I am a well educated young lady who is very resourceful and wanting IN big time. I have included some pics with my pals 21 Guns (local perth act and ac/dc cover band) and my international pals Machine Head. Hope you enjoy them, I would love to be able to contribute these or have you use them.

Great work you’ve been doing, keep it up

Cheers

Queenie

Ps- I have included my myspace pages so you can see additional pics of My Bon!!

Queen Bee Productions & Enterprises sends you her warm regards xx

Well, Queen Bee, how about you start your participation by heading down to the Ugly Sexy Factor night with a free ticket, take a few shots and write a short report for the blog? That’d be terrific, given that I am 3000 km away from Fremantle now…

The Ugly Sexy Factor

The Ugly/Sexy Factor: Bon Scott & Fashion
Thursday 12 June, 8pm Fly By Night Club, Fremantle. $10 entry

This Thursday night, if you’re on the west coast of Australia, there’s no excuse to miss The Ugly Sexy Factor.

It’s kinda like a cabaret discussion night thingummy, but with now-legendary west ozzie AC/DC tribute band FAC/DC (facca dacca) providing the loudness.

For all the details see this page here and scroll down a bit…

Basically, the event was conceived by Jasmin Stephens, the Bon Scott Project Curator, in an attempt to answer the question:

“if Bon wasn’t conventionally handsome, what was it that made him so damn sexy?”

Now, I know that many of my regular readers (Carolyn and Susann especially) think this is just a riduculous question. To them, there is no controversy, Bon was the sexiest man alive…

But others, especially various female friends of mine, have reported bewilderment at the idea of Bon’s charm. Simply looking at a photo of his face, they don’t get the attraction. It’s only after watching him onstage or in a video interview that things begin to change…

And guess what?! Fremantle Arts Centre have slipped me 10 free tickets to the night to give away to my most-loyal-of-all readers!!

Hmm, let’s see… The ten best thoughts on this UGLY-vs-SEXY Bon Scott business get the free tix!! (and of course you don’t have to be in Western Australia to contribute to the debate… I will think of suitably postable prizes for the geographically challenged amongst you…)

Get to it folks!
